ADÈLE VIRET QUARTET At 23, Adèle Viret is one of the promising young musicians of her generation, welcoming on the cello a world at the crossroads of styles and imaginations. She trained in classical at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and at the same time benefited from the mentorship of saxophonist and composer Fabrizio Cassol. She has notably been seen performing alongside Magic Malik, the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and more recently with the group Aka Moon, of which she appears on the brand new album Quality of Joy. With this quartet, Adèle presents her personal compositions for the first time. It is a meeting place for worlds that touch and amuse her, an alloy of lyricism and rhythmic games with a few touches of minimalist atmosphere. Exploring multiple paths of improvisation and taking up the challenge of a quartet without “bass” where the bass of the cello and the piano alternately take over, she surrounds herself for this very first project with artists who are dear to her, Wajdi Riahi (piano), Oscar Viret (trumpet) and Pierre Hurty (drums).
