Does science replace experience? Conference debate Throughout the “news”, radio and TV broadcasts, and public positions taken, it is obvious that science is the exclusive source of legitimate knowledge. The fact that the requirement for objectivity inherited from modern science is invoked cannot, however, reduce experience to the rank of a minor genre. What happens to the experience? What is the value of the knowledge it allows us to acquire when it is carefully developed, reflected upon, shared, and put to the test of facts? This deserves examination from the point of view of the philosophy of knowledge. This is the question that we propose to support and debate on May 6 during the conference of Yves Darcourt Lézat, researcher in political philosophy, graduate of the Institute of Political Studies of Paris, engineer, sociologist speaking and , he explains, a Pyrenean and mountaineer, a way of saying that he has one foot in science and one foot in action. On this occasion, we will distinguish the meanings of the word experience, the distinction between experience and science and the legitimacies to which these notions refer.
