DOMAINE LABRANCHE LAFFONT

Tasting, Wine, Producer in Maumusson-Laguian
  • A particularity of the estate is to have a heritage of very old vines, including one of the last plots of pre-phylloxera tannat dating from the end of the 19th century. In great years, it is vinified separately and gives birth to a complex, fine wine with an exceptional length in the mouth.

It was in 1993, on leaving the school of oenology, that Christine Dupuy took over the 6 ha of family vines and then became the youngest winemaker in the appellation.

Embraced and supported by the profession, she does amazing work right from the start. Its objective is simple, to produce quality wines and to fight against this fashion for stereotyped wines. The base is the terroir... A terroir with clay, pebbles that help keep the heat and good exposure... and then comes the work of the winegrower. It lowers yields, adopts malolactic fermentation in barrels and tries biodynamics on 2 ha. She wants to let the Tannat express itself as much as possible to produce typical wines rich in fruit, in color, deep wines with a fleshy and tasty structure. The estate covers 22 hectares, 18 of which are located in Madiran (80% Tannat, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon) and 4 in the Pacherenc-du-Vic-Bilh appellation (50% Gros Manseng and 50% Little Manseng). All the wines are certified in Organic Agriculture.
