Located in the south of the Gers, at the edge of the County of Armagnac, the Tour de Termes is one of the finest examples of Gasconne military architecture from the 13th century. Listed as a Historic Monument, the 36-meter Tower is the only vestige that remains of the castle of Thibault de Termes, companion of Joan of Arc.
It houses rooms including a medieval armory and historic rooms evoking scenes from everyday life in the Middle Ages and famous Gascons: sound rooms, model of the castle at its peak, costumed characters including d'Artagnan, Henri de Navarre. At the top of the Tower, enjoy an exceptional panorama over the Adour valley and the Pyrenees chain. An orientation table will allow you to find your way.
Put on the historical costume of your choice to visit the medieval dungeon, and go on a quest for the life of our ancestors, as the devoted knights would have gone in search of the Grail. From the kitchen to the armory, from the bedroom to the banquet hall, passing through the village of artisans and the jousting stadium at the foot of the Tower.
As soon as you enter the site after passing the new reception building, the Termes tower site will present its new face. A jousting stadium with its 330 seats, the village of craftsmen in the park of the castle will welcome visitors of modern times and the medieval garden adjoining the church, will offer a pleasant stroll to the ladies and gentlemen passing! The site will be constantly evolving since these various developments will gradually come into being this year.
To visit at the foot of the Tower: the church housing an 18th century altarpiece classified as a Historic Monument and the hiking path connecting the Tower to the Montte mound (medieval site of the High Middle Ages). Many events are produced in summer, including medieval shows in the second half of July and the Medieval shows on the first weekend in August.
