Special provisions Covid-19: hydroalcoholic gel available, use of the mask recommended on the sites, payment by credit card recommended. Regarding schedules, these are those of the low season, this may change in July and August, to watch. Listed as a Historic Monument, the Gallo-Roman Villa of Séviac is part of the ELUSA Ancient Capital which highlights the 3 major Gers archaeological sites: the Villa of Séviac, the Musée du Trésor d'Eauze and the Domus de Cieutat. Luxurious residence of the Lower Roman Empire, the Villa de Séviac, located in Montreal from the Gers, restores the living environment of a family of landed aristocrats from the 4th and 5th centuries. Presenting the classic plan of the Roman house, the Pars Urbana (home of the masters of the domain) is organized around a square courtyard, bordered by a gallery with columns of Pyrenean marble. The living rooms communicate with this interior gallery and a second, exterior gallery, which runs along the four facades of the house. The thirty pavements of mosaics discovered, of which more than 450 m2 are preserved on the site, constitute an exceptional set. If the patterns of the mosaics are always different, there is a unit of invoice characteristic of the School of Aquitaine, with an essentially geometric and floral decoration. On the walls, painted plasters and a veneer of white, gray or green Pyrenean marble, sometimes highlighted with fluted pilasters, contributed to the magnificence of the house. A second courtyard provides access to the thermal baths. Covering more than 500 m2, this thermal complex, including daily baths and ceremonial baths, swimming pool with running and covered water, is one of the largest private baths known. Rooms heated by hypocaustes (hot air circulation systems on the floor), mosaics, marble veneer, all contributing to the well-being of the bath. For more than thirty five years, the volunteers of the Association for the Protection of Monuments and Sites of Armagnac carried out the archaeological excavations of this site. Thanks to them, these sumptuous vestiges are now offered to the curiosity of many visitors. A course game, as fun as it is educational, is offered to children who, after the on-site visit, will keep a "discovery notebook" in memory of the Gallo-Roman villa.
